The weekend is nigh and we all know the anxiety of not having any cool threads for that party those of us who actually have social lives are planning on attending. More than that, we are too familiar with the gut wrenching pain of finding that perfect dress or pair of shoes only to flip over the tag and see that they come with a price any true westie would just not be cool with. Ain’t nobody got time for an outfit that’s going to cost you you’re entire week’s rent! - In the wise words of someone I once knew*, "I call that being swindled and pimped (shiiiit), I call that being tricked by a business" (I know what you're thinking and nope, I'm not even nearly done with the Thrift Shop references yet). Our mum's taught us better than that! Here at #westthings, we understand that westies are a thrifty, bargain-hunting bunch. To give you a little help along your journey to poppin' some tags and unleashing the inner fashionista we all know you can be when things don't cost a gazillion dollars, we’ve compiled a list of our favourite tried and tested op shops in the western suburbs.
We do admit that op shopping can be a little hit and miss sometimes but the thrill of the hunt is one of the best bits! Nothing feels as satisfying as when you reach into a pile and pull out a pair of vintage Levi's that just happen to be your exact size. N-o-t-h-i-n-g. Plus, in addition to being
endorsed by swag king Macklemore himself, op shopping directly supports organisations dedicated to helping those less fortunate, reduces the environmental impact of manufacturing new clothes and cuts down on the amount of waste that goes to landfill. Most importantly, you get to enjoy the guaranteed expressions of jealousy on your friends faces when they find out that genuine leather jacket you've been rocking cost you 15 bucks - that's a bargain bitch! (Ok, now I'm done) So basically, what we’re saying is, op shopping officially makes you a super hero, and a stylish one at that. Keep reading to find out where our usual hunting grounds are!
